Wiltshire warned of parking charge text scam
The council say they wont contact us by text message for parking charges
People living in Wiltshire are being warned about a text message parking scam.
Wiltshire Council says it's been made aware of people receiving a text message telling them to pay a parking fine, with a link for us to 'pay'.
The message, which comes from a mobile phone number, claims 'a local council' has issued the charged, and says a 50% add-on if the payment isn't made within 28 days.
It also threatens further prosecution should payment continue to not be made.
The council says it will not contact us regarding a parking charge by text, adding that we can report suspicious messages to the National Cyber Security Centre.
