A Wiltshire-based veterans charity says todays Remembrance Sunday services are an opportunity to educate the younger generation.

People across the county will be stopping to remember those who have fought and fallen for our country this morning, with this being the 80th year since the end of World War Two.

Spencer Bull from Help for Heroes, which is based in Downton, says the anniversary is shing an extra limelight on services, helping highlight the sacrifice people have made to the younger generation.

"It's not necessarily more significant because of World War Two. We should be remembering every day of the year, and it's important that we continue to do that," he said.

Spencer will be joining thousands of fellow veterans at the Cenotaph today, including around 50 from Help for Heroes.

He said it's a chance for the charity to honour the service and sacrifice people gave for our freedoms.

"We also recognise the challenges veterans and families still face today from life changing injuries, be they such mental trauma or physical injuries or the fact they're feeling isolated. Help for heroes are continue to be here for them and their families."

Spencer revealed that it is an "honour" to be attending the service at the Cenotaph.

"I've always wanted to do it," he said. "I decided this year I will go up, with my wife, who is also my carer." Spencer is wheelchair bound and his wife will be joining him as part of the parade.

"I'll probably only do it once in my lifetime," he said. "But I want to make the most of it and I will recognise it locally in the community where I live."

Remembrance Services will be taking place across Wiltshire, including at the War Memorial in the Salisbury Guildhall Square, at Melksham's War Memorial in Canon Square and at Trowbridge town park.
