A new model for greater support and guidance and families will open in Wiltshire in April 2024.

Wiltshire Council have awarded a contract worth £3m per year to Spurgeons to provide family hubs throughout the county to young people up to the age of 19 and people with SEND up to 25-years-old.

It follows a drive from the government for such hubs, one of the main hubs being in Salisbury at the Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre.

There will also be a digital platform where support can be accessed offering information and courses.

“We’re looking forward to these hubs opening from April in communities throughout Wiltshire to make a positive difference to the lives of Wiltshire’s families, children and young people," Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said.

Each hub will have a team of navigators, providing a visible presence in our communities to offer help to families that need it. They'll also be able to signpost and create links to agencies such as local schools and early years providers.

Local navigator locations are the libraries in Amesbury, Salisbury and Downton and Tidworth Leisure Centre. Opening times and days will be confirmed in March.

“These new hubs will streamline access to support for families, aligning with our Business Plan missions to empower people to lead enriched lives and give children the best start in life.

“As well as face to face support from trained, specialist navigators, families will be able to access a digital platform that will be able to offer advice and support at any time of the day or night.

Ian Soars, Chief Executive of Spurgeons, said: “Spurgeons has supported children and families in Wiltshire for many years and we are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to continue this invaluable work.

“We are excited and committed to making the family hub vision a reality for local children, young people and their parents. Partnering with Wiltshire Council, our skilled, experienced and compassionate team will continue to deliver high quality, innovative support.”
