Wiltshire pothole problem to be tackled with £26 million Government funding
£3 million is specifically for Potholes to be fixed
Highways in Wiltshire are going to be upgraded thanks to £26 million of Government funding which has been awarded to Wiltshire Council.
Almost £23 million is from the Highway’s Maintenance Fund, which will go towards resurfacing works, replacing traffic signals and signs.
Another £3.6 million is being received from the Department of Transport’s Pothole Fund, to specifically target the problem across the county.
Cllr Caroline Thomas, Cabinet Member for Transport, said:
“We welcome this maintenance funding from the Department for Transport, which will be used to improve Wiltshire’s highways network and to make our roads and footpaths safer for all users – important contributions to the council’s Business Plan objective of having vibrant, well-connected communities.
“We are creating heatmaps of the areas with the worst pothole problems and using this data to identify roads in most need, those local pothole hotspots.”
