Wiltshire Police have thanked the public for the support of their 'Wanted this Winter' campaign.

More than half of the 42 wanted suspects were dealt with successfully, saving officers valuable time in attempting to locate them.

Many of the 22 officers caught up with were arrested after their information was shared with the public, while a handful chose to hand themselves in after seeing their appeal on social media.

Chief Superintendent Phil Staynings said the campaign proved the power the public and social media have in supporting police activities.

"The annual campaign highlights persistent offenders who are wanted for a variety of crimes, from driving offences to burglary, which blight our communities.

"We recognise that those featured in the campaign may feel uncomfortable with the publicity and we would encourage them to contact us at the first opportunity to help officers with their enquiries.

“We would like to thank everyone who engaged with the campaign by either sharing our appeals or by passing us information on the whereabouts of wanted individuals. It’s made a real difference."

However, there are still 20 suspects police are keen to speak to, but who remain elusive. The list of those still wanted can be found here.

If we have any information regarding the whereabouts of any of these suspects please call police on 101 or if you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crimestoppers on 0800555111.
