As another weekend of Christmas season celebrations gets started, Wiltshire Police is taking aim at potential sex offenders in the county.
Officers are in town and city centres across the Wiltshire as part of Project Vigilant, which aims to make our streets hostile to sexual predators.
PC James Weekes is part of the project, and says Officers are looking for signs of harassment, stalking behaviour and people loitering without reason.
"it could be a lone person. Could be two working together. It could be anything that's untoward," he said.
PC Weekes added: "For example, as a hypothetical scenario, a lone male who is potentially watching lone females and starting to wander towards them for whatever reason that may be, we also have interject and have a chat with him."
The project has seen Wiltshire Police work in collaboration with neighbouring Forces, such as Thames Valley Police, as well as alongside immigration.
DI Troy Smith said: "We're working together, we're sharing intelligence, we're sharing information and we're sharing skills."
The Force is urging anyone who is a victim of sexual assault, whether it's recent or in the past, to contact them.
Anyone who feels uncomfortable on a night out can ‘Ask for Angela’ at participating venues where staff will be trained to offer you support. You can find more info and participating venues here.
