Officers and staff have been recognised for their bravery, skill and dedication at the Wiltshire Police Awards on Tuesday.

The event, which was held virtually, recognised those who've gone above and beyond, showing skill and professionalism in the course of their duties.

Some of those recognised included officers who went into a burning building to try to rescue a woman trapped inside, an officer who developed a new piece of technology to help find missing people and the ongoing targeted work to tackle rural crime across Wiltshire.

At the ceremony Wiltshire Police Chief Constable Kier Pritchard paid tribute to all the recipients for their efforts which went above and beyond the course of duty.

He said: “It is always a huge privilege for me to host these awards and I am delighted to recognise and celebrate some of the amazing achievements of our police officers, police staff and partners here in Wiltshire Police.

“I am immensely proud and grateful to be surrounded and supported by some incredibly talented, driven and brilliant individuals - those who display the core values and behaviours of our police force and demonstrate the true meaning of public service.

“I have no doubt that like me, everyone in our communities will be filled with pride to hear about the outstanding policing and partnership work that happens every day in our county.”

Naji Darwish, Acting Chief Executive for the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner, added: “This virtual ceremony rightly recognises the outstanding work carried out by police officers and staff day in, day out across Wiltshire.

"It also demonstrated the breadth of policing and highlighted the role that Wiltshire Police play beyond crime.

"From saving lives, to innovation and putting themselves at risk to apprehend outstanding suspects. These recipients really do represent the very best of Wiltshire Police.”

Recipients were invited to ask their friends or family to join them for the virtual ceremony.
