Wiltshire Police officer would have been dismissed if still serving
Former PC Robert Poile's been subject to a gross misconduct hearing
A former Wiltshire Police officer's been told he would have been dismissed from the force, if he was still serving.
A gross misconduct hearing's been held, into the actions of ex-PC Robert Poile, at their headquarters in Devizes yesterday (Tuesday 25th February).
The hearing, chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith, found former PC Poile breached professional standards.
Two allegations relating to inaccurate information given during the vetting process were upheld.
Former PC Poile will also be placed on the national barred list which means he will not be able to work in policing in the future.
Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper said: “Our communities rightly expect that only those suitable to work in policing are able to and that they have been vetted to the highest standards.
“Our communities also expect and deserve the highest standards of professional behaviour from all our officers and staff. Former PC Poile’s actions in withholding information that would have had a material impact on the outcome of his vetting application fell well short of the standards we expect, and he has been held to account for his actions.”
In line with the Police Conduct regulations 2020, the former officer has a period of 10 working days to appeal the outcome.
