Wiltshire Police is still not consistently deliver the level of service the public deserves, the Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police has said.

In her update on Force Improvement activity, Catherine Roper said she remained resolute to deliver the required improvements to ensuring Wiltshire is kept safe.

“In my first six months as Chief Constable, I have been focused on developing the governance and strategy to create the correct framework to deliver improvements in the Force.

“This included setting three, clear operational priorities of Safer Public Spaces, Violence and Burglary.

“Although I am now confident we have these plans and structure in place, my overall assessment is that the Force is still not consistently providing the level of service that the public of Wiltshire require and deserve.”

Last year, the force was graded as ‘inadequate’ by the HMICFRS PEEL’s inspection in their ability to respond to the public and to protect the vulnerable.

The force was further described as ‘requiring improvement’ in several other areas and a number of recommendations were made to improve the service delivered to the people of Wiltshire.
