Police in Wiltshire have been taking part in patrols to tackle illegal poaching and hare coursing.

Extra patrols have been held on parts of Salisbury Plain and in the Collingbournes, amongst other areas.

In a post on social media, officers said:

"Hare Coursing has been identified by the Chief Constable as a top priority for Wiltshire Police.

"In the last couple of weeks we have received an increasing amount of reports, especially from farm owners whose crops and property are often destroyed by this activity."

There's an appeal for us to report suspicious vehicles in fields, especially 4x4s with lurcher or greyhound type dogs.

We're asked to call 999, if it's safe to do so, during ongoing incidents to ensure police 'provide a speedy response'.
