A former detention officer at Wiltshire Police would have been dismissed from their job, if they hadn't already resigned.

A misconduct hearing at the force's HQ in Devizes has found the actions of the staff member amounted to discreditable conduct.

The allegations centred on the individual failing to notify the organisation of a Notifiable Association – namely a sex worker.

A further allegation involved the individual taking employment elsewhere whilst on suspension from the force and failed to record or seek authorisation for this.

Deputy Chief Constable Craig Dibdin said:

“We expect the highest standards from everyone at Wiltshire Police – police officers, police staff members and volunteers.

“The individual in this case failed to comply with policies and procedures in place to ensure we are operating in the most transparent way possible.

“I would like to make a direct plea to our communities – whenever you have concerns regarding a member of Wiltshire Police – please report these to us. We will take robust action against anyone whose conduct falls short of our expectations.

“We also routinely encourage all members of the Force to use an anonymous reporting tool if they have concerns regarding a colleague’s behaviour.”

The Force now has a Safe2Say Anonymous Reporting System - a bespoke internal reporting system for officers, staff and volunteers to have the confidence to report wrongdoing, concerns they have or intelligence surrounding the Wiltshire Police workforce.
