Community groups given financial help by Wiltshire PCC
It's aimed at preventing anti-social behaviour and support young people
Groups across Wiltshire have got financial help from the county's Police and Crime Commissioner through his Community Action Fund.
It's the first round of grants given out by Philip Wilkinson's project, which aims to prevent anti-social behaviour, tackle drug and alcohol related crimes and support young people.
Among the schemes getting cash are:
- Seeds4Success, which gets £2,500 for open access youth clubs and a new outreach project over the summer holidays in Mere, Tisbury and Wilton
- Splash - Community First, which has been given £3,384 for a parents' resource pack in different languages for supporting their children and their 'Worry Monsters'. That help young children across Wiltshire deal with the emotional effects of being a victim of crime
- West Lavington Youth Club gets £1,000 for their youth club two nights a week
PCC Philip Wilkinson said:
“I’m so pleased we have had so much interest in the Community Action Fund this year. The standard of applications received during the first round of funding were very high.
“We have been able to award funding to some fantastic groups whose projects aim to tackle key deliverables within each of my Police and Crime Plan priorities. I am looking forward to visiting as many of these groups as possible to find out more about the valuable work they do and how they are actively contributing to their communities and making Wiltshire safer."
