Wiltshire's older generation are being called upon to help shape the future of social care services for their age group.

The Council wants to hear from people aged 70 or over, who aren't currently using services, or who have low level needs.

They're holding a public session on the issue at Devizes Football and Rugby Club later this month (Friday 25th August) - and laying on free transport from Salisbury for those who want to take part.

Cllr Jane Davies, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said:

"We all want to stay fit and active for as long as possible. We do, however, have to look to the future when we may need some support. We are asking people who may have low levels of care or none at the moment to join us for this session and tell us how they would like to have that support in the future.

"We want to ensure care is right for residents and fit for purpose. This meeting will be the first step to ensuring we are getting a wide range of views. We'll have future meetings with other groups, but for this one we want to specifically talk to people over 70. To help as many people as possible to attend, we're providing free transport and we hope people will join us and give their views."

Free transport will run from New Canal in Salisbury (outside Vision Express) at 8.45am on August 25th, and from the Bemerton Heath Centre at 9.15am.
