Wiltshire's Local Plan will be discussed by the full council next week, after being approved by the authority's Cabinet. www.wiltshire.gov.uk/local-plan

They've taken it to the next stage, after taking more than 10,700 public comments into consideration.

The document will set out where around 36,000 new homes, infrastructure and employment land can go across Wiltshire until 2038.

Once it's ratified, the Plan will be used to help decide all local planning applications during that time.

Cllr Nick Botterill, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, said:

“We received a substantial number of comments on this Local Plan, which took time to carefully consider thoroughly. I’m pleased to confirm that Cabinet has approved this ambitious Plan, allowing it to proceed to the next stage.

“As well as suggesting appropriate sites for housing and employment development, the Local Plan also sets out ambitious sustainability policies, as all new developments will have to meet zero carbon standards, improve biodiversity and also have cycling and walking connections.”

The Plan will now be considered by Full Council next Tuesday (15th October).

If approved, it will be submitted to the Planning Inspector, along with all the public comments, by the end of the year, with some examination hearings in 2025.
