It's been confirmed that tips in both counties will remain open during the latest lockdown, which comes into effect on Thursday (November 5th).

As has been in place since the summer, we'll still need to book a slot to attend, through the Wiltshire Council website or the Hampshire County Council website.

Opening times for dumps in both local authority areas won't change from their normal scheduled either.

Councillor Bridget Wayman, Cabinet Member for Waste, said:

“We are pleased that the government has confirmed that ahead of this lockdown, the national guidance defines waste services as essential, which means that our Household Recycling Centres can remain open.

“Our kerbside waste and recycling collections will also continue as usual.”

Hampshire County Council's Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment, Councillor Rob Humby, explains why they're keeping sites open:

"I'm really pleased we've got absolute clarity from the Government and for this lockdown, the national guidance defines waste services as essential.

"We've put in place a booking system at the HWRCs which has been operating well for some time now, and social distancing measures to ensure each of our sites is able to operate in a COVID safe way, so I am confident we will be able to continue offering this service for Hampshire residents as the country enters into the next lockdown period."
