We're being encouraged to go wild in June by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

The organisations 30 Days Wild challenge, which is marking it's 10th anniversary, asks us to get outdoors and connect with nature.

Kirstine Bowen from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) told us the challenge is vital to boosting health and wellbeing.

She said: "A study actually found a significant increase in people's health, happiness and connection to nature through participating in 30 days wild.

"People reported feeling more relaxed, reduced stress levels and a greater motivation to protect wildlife, which lasted long after the campaign ended, so it can be hugely beneficial."

Getting involved can be anything from eating or exercising outside to building a bird box or planting wildflower seeds.

The challenge has expanded hugely during it's decade of running.

When it first launched, 12,000 people to part, and that's now swelled to more than half a million in 2023.

Ms Bowen said: "It's just helped so many people to get outside, enjoy and connect with nature and making it a part of their everyday lives. So is a fantastic achievement."

The challenge is made possible by players of the People's Post Code Lottery.

Iolo Williams, wildlife presenter and ambassador of The Wildlife Trusts, said: “Embrace the outdoors with The Wildlife Trusts' 30 Days Wild challenge! Imagine a month dedicated to exploring the wonders of nature, from the majestic red kites soaring above to the humble bees buzzing in our gardens.

Let's make every day an adventure, be it birdwatching or planting wildflowers to support our native wildlife. This June, step outside, breathe in the fresh air, and go WILD!”

We can sign up on the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust's website, where we'll receive a free 30 Days Wild pack. Participants are also encouraged to share their experiences on social media, using the hashtag #30dayswild and tagging the Wildlife Trust.
