Lockdown 2: Wiltshire Creative forced to close again
Salisbury's Playhouse and Arts Centre affected by latest Government announcements.
Wiltshire Creative's venues had been doing their best to welcome visitors back, in line with the Covid-19 restrictions.
But the latest lockdown measures, coming into effect on Thursday (5th November) mean that entertainment locations like Salisbury Playhouse and the city's Arts Centre have to shut their doors again.
The charity behind the venues say they 'deeply regret' that they'll be affected by the news.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
Salisbury Arts Centre's cafe will stay open until 3.00pm on Wednesday (4th November) before closing during the lockdown period.
The last socially distant performance at Salisbury Playhouse will be Just Mercy on Wednesday evening.
All shows and workshops planned from Thursday 5th November and Thursday 3rd December are being cancelled, under the Covid-19 restrictions.
In their statement, Wiltshire Creative said:
"While this is hugely disappointing news, we will welcome you back again. Your enthusiasm over the last few weeks for returning to our Covid safe venues spurs us on. Thank you for all of your positive feedback and encouragement.
"We have been overwhelmed by the volume of support we’ve received so far. Many of you have offered the value of your tickets from cancelled events as a donation towards our future work or to be kept as credit on your account to enjoy future performances. On behalf of everyone at Wiltshire Creative, we thank you for your ongoing support and loyalty."
WHAT TO DO IF YOU'VE GOT TICKETS
The advice to ticketholders affected by the closure is to sit tight.
Wiltshire Creative will be in touch with those customers who have tickets to shows that can't go ahead, by email.
They've said they're not able to respond to telephone or in-person enquiries at this time.
Tickets remain on sale for our Christmas season through the Wiltshire Creative website.
