Wiltshire Council say they're 'keen' to help improve the success rate of Test and Trace within the county.

The county's Director of Public Health, Kate Blackburn, has given us an update:

"We are developing our local testing partnership in Wiltshire, which is being set up so that we can follow-up all Covid cases that the national Test and Trace have been unable to reach. The team will try and contact people through texts and phone calls, completing the Test and Trace data capture process locally."

The authority thinks having a local approach would mean they can offer support to those affected where necessary.

Kate Blackburn explains why they feel that's important:

"We can provide advice around self-isolation, identification of close contacts but also so that we can be providing support for our residents who need to self-isolate and may need some additional help from us as a council."

Wiltshire Council's hoping that having a local system will back up the national service, but also give the authority a better handle on the spread of Covid-19 in the county.

Director of Public Health, Kate Blackburn said:

"We're integrating the national and local data into one place, but we're very, very keen to make sure that we're taking a local approach to this, so that we're supporting our residents appropriately."
