Wiltshire Council to share pothole plans in public webinar

It's our chance to ask questions about dreaded road defects

It's a subject that brings out the anger in many drivers - just mentioning the word potholes can cause people's blood pressure to rise - and we're getting a chance to learn more about them.

Wiltshire Council's hosting a public webinar later this month, to tell us how the authority 'manages' potholes.

Transport Councillor Caroline Thomas will lead the session, explaining how road defects are inspected, prioritised and filled - along with details of long-term maintenance scheduled and resurfacing.

We can also ask questions, if they're submitted in advance - although we're warned they won't be able to talk about specific potholes.

The session's open to all, between 6.00 and 7.00pm on Monday 19th June.

Cllr Thomas said:

“We know how passionate people are about potholes, and this is a good opportunity for people to find out more about what we’re doing across the county to tackle the issue.

“The recent increase in the number of potholes is a national issue that has been caused by hot and dry summer of 2022, combined with the very wet and then cold weather experienced this past winter, which has created the ideal conditions for potholes to form.

“One of our Business Plan commitments is to have well-connected communities, and that’s why we’re doing all we can to tackle the problem. People want to know what we’re doing about the issue, and that’s why we’re hosting this webinar – to enable people to find out more and ask questions about the way we tackle potholes in Wiltshire.”

You can sign up for the webinar through the Wiltshire Council website. https://survey.wiltshire.gov.uk/snapwebhost/s.asp?k=168614665792

You'll then be sent a link to join the Microsoft Teams meeting on the morning of the session.
