With less than three months until the King Charles III coronation, Wiltshire Council is encouraging communities in the area to share food and fun, but event applications need to be submitted soon.

The King and Queen Consort are officially coronated on Saturday May 6th 2023.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Sarah Troughton, said:

“I do hope that residents and communities will join me in celebrating His Majesty's Coronation.”

I want to encourage everyone to join in the celebrations by putting on their own Coronation Big Lunch events and street parties on Sunday 7th May followed by the Big Help Out activities on Monday 8th May.”

Wiltshire Council has offered some guidance on preparations, with Cllr Richard Clewer saying:

“We want to ensure that our local communities have the resources and information they need to mark this historic celebration.

“As well as the national celebrations we know that there will be lots of residents looking to hold their own celebrations, which is why we’ve created the webpage with a whole host of useful information for hosting a street party event.”

Applications requiring council involvement or permission need to be submitted eight-weeks before the event is to take place with events being held on Council owned land/green spaces/parks able to be approved in just two weeks.

Any licenses required, such as for entertainment or selling alcohol, submissions are advised to be made as soon as possible.

There's more guidance for communities on the Wiltshire Council website.
