Plea for Wiltshire households to recycle correctly
More than a third of rubbish left at tips could have been recycled
There's a plea from Wiltshire Council, if we're planning on using one of their household recycling centres - 'sort it before you bring it'.
The authority's said more than a third of the waste that gets thrown into the general rubbish skips at local dumps could have, and should have, been recycled.
We're being encouraged to sort out rubbish into different types, before arriving at an HRC, so it can be put into the correct section once we're there.
Wiltshire Council's also set to bring in dedicated sorting areas at tips, with staff on hand to provide advice and guidance on what should go where.
Items we can recycle at their sites include:
- textiles and clothing
- plastics
- paper
- cardboard
- metals, cans and aerosols
- electrical items
- wood
- soil and rubble
Some of those could even go into the blue-lidded bin at home for recycling collections, if you have space.
There's more information on what we can recycle on the Wiltshire Council website.
