Advice issued by Wiltshire Council to avoid car park scams
Scammers have been known to use fake QR codes in car parks
People using Wiltshire's car park's are being warned that scammers could be using fake QR codes to steal our payment information.
Wiltshire Council said they've been known to target the county's parking metres with sticker on signs in car parks.
The QR codes take users to counterfeit websites, which then take our information.
The council has issued the following advice for us to avoid being scammed.
- Inspect the QR code for signs of tampering
- Check that the website address is legitimate
We're also being reminded that we can pay for parking via the MiPermit app, or by using cash or cards at pay machines directly.
