Wiltshire's artisans getting Christmas boost from online store
Its been developed from a pop up shop that appeared on Salisbury's High Street last year
The artisans and directors originally involved with the popular '36 Salisbury' store have come together for this festive period too.
Due to the pandemic affecting the way we are shopping this year, "Wiltshire Makers" has been set up online to help showcase local artisans with connections to the county.
The organisers behind it want to support, promote and help grow the Wiltshire artisan community and provide them a space to sell their products.
Director Claire Burden said:
"As we know the current pandemic is reshaping the shopping behaviours of many. We hope that our local independent artisans will be encouraged by the online sales and this will help them grow their businesses. By working together we can build a larger online presence, we are building on existing communities and increasing awareness and sales.
I would encourage shoppers and businesses this year to buy local wherever possible and support the local economy be that through our website or other local independent traders who are showcasing their stores online."
Seven businesses have been included in the launch phase, which are:
- The Magnificent Seed
- Wessex Spirits
- Ta Moko Espresso
- Utta Nutta
- Alexander Chocolate
- Wilding's Snacks
- Sinceris
There is free delivery to any address up to 9 miles around Salisbury but they can be sent to anywhere across the UK.
Their next phase is an online art gallery, after the success of the real one located at the back of last year's High Street shop.
A members area for people to subscribe too is also in the works.
Director Terry Kemp added:
"By creating a members area we are aiming to support and grow artisans and their businesses. They will be able to access help & support from one area. We have already engaged with many artisans who want to be part of the wider Wiltshire Makers Family and this is incredibly encouraging, this will be an exciting 12 months for the company."
It's hoped they will be able to showcase new artisans on their website as time goes on.
