Wiltshire Air Ambulance has been in contact with the NHS to let them know their airbase in Semington is available to be used as a vaccination centre if required.

The Government says they're hoping everyone in the UK will be within 10 miles of a vaccine site by the end of this month.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance chief executive David Philpott said:

"Our airbase is a clinically secure building which is currently closed to the public, with our charity staff working from home and only our aircrew on site.

"The rollout of the AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine, adding to the Pzifer-BioNTech jab, offers real hope that the end is in sight for the Coronavirus pandemic, so if we can do our little bit to help then it's only right that we try."

WAA say their airbase could be utilised as a Covid-19 vaccine centre if needed

The Wiltshire Air Ambulance base has already been used during the pandemic to help with the efforts to protect people.

Last year, the site was used by South Western Ambulance Trust as a Covid-19 testing centre for frontline workers.

The charity say they want to do their bit to help once again.
