Over 540 missions attended by Wiltshire Air Ambulance so far this year
The charity's seen a 5.4% increase in callouts in the first half of 2023
Wiltshire Air Ambulance has been revealing their callout numbers for the first half of 2023 - with an increase in missions attended.
The charity went to 543 incidents from January to the end of June - that's 5.4% more than the same period of 2022.
The service's helicopter went to 68% of incidents, with the rest attended by their critical care cars.
Over a quarter of all the missions (146 incidents) were for cardiac emergencies, along with 112 road traffic collisions, 84 medical incidents, 25 sporting injuries, 34 self-harm incidents and 24 assaults.
A total of 68 incidents involved children, while a third (179) of all missions took place at night.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance's work has been spread right across the county, and other areas too.
There were 34 callouts in Salisbury, eight in Amesbury, five in Pewsey, three in Tidworth and once in Tisbury.
26% of incidents actually happened outside of Wiltshire, with the crews attended to help out in Bristol, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Somerset, as well as across in Wales and on the Isle of Wight.
The charity say the figures show how vital their services are in saving lives, with them relying on public support for their funding.
