A Wiltshire based firm of Accountants is celebrating a record year of charitable giving.

Gooding Accounts Ltd, which has offices in Warminster, Westbury and Melksham has been fundraising during the pandemic to aid the vital work of local charities, including Wiltshire Mind, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, and Dorothy House Hospice Care.

They've successfully raised over £20,000 during 2021, thanks to a number of creative and inspired fundraising efforts.

The firm held a dedicated charity day in September that raised over £12,000 in a single day, in memory of company founder Sam Gooding’s close friend, Paul Hooper, who passed away in December 2020 from an aggressive form of cancer.

A special fundraising raffle was held that featured donations from local businesses, including tickets to a number of Premier League football match fixtures involving Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United, with proceeds split equally between three Wiltshire charities.

A combination of physical activities, quiz nights, stone walks and endurance events all added up to the total figure that the firm has successfully fundraised in 2021.

Gooding Accounts’ bookkeeping manager Sherelyn Cowles helped raise more than £4,000 alone by participating in a 24 workout challenge for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.

SAM GOODING: “There’s been so much suffering during the course of the pandemic"

Sam Gooding, founder and partner at Gooding Accounts Ltd, said:

“It’s really important for us as a business to give something back to the community in which we work and live in: we specifically raise funds for local causes so that we can see the impact and difference that these charities make in the community, helping those less fortunate."

“There’s been so much suffering during the course of the pandemic; everyone’s been affected in some way or another. Yet we all can play a role in making positive change for the future. Charitable work is great for keeping us grounded as a business; it’s a daily reminder to appreciate what we’ve currently got.”

“Everyone in the Gooding Accounts team now brings their own fundraising ideas to the table year-on-year and we’re all on board with recognising the positive effect that we can have as an organisation. Our 2021 charity day was a huge success and has helped Wiltshire Mind, Dorothy House and Wiltshire Air Ambulance all to continue their vital work."

Sam had the pleasure of recently visiting Wiltshire Mind to present them with a cheque. The money could be used to deliver mental health sessions to around 100 children and young people in need.
