A Wiltshire man who reached out for help with his abusive behaviour is encouraging other's to 'invest in themselves' by seeking change.

The man, who we've named Anthony, has told us he realised change was needed when he noticed how much his actions were negatively impacting his relationships at home and at work.

He said: "I felt stuck, constantly battling anxiety, anger and frustration, which affected my relationships with my wife and family and my ability to achieve my goals.

"This realization hit me hard when I saw that despite my efforts, I wasn't progressing and making an impact the way I wanted to. I knew I had to find a new approach to break this cycle."

Anthony reached out to domestic abuse charity FearFree, joining their behaviour change course. He said the course was a game-changer for him.

He said: "It provided me with practical tools and techniques to manage my anxiety and frustration effectively. The course taught me how to recognize and challenge my negative thought patterns, replacing them with positive and constructive ones.

He added: "It also offered a me supportive space where I could share my experiences and learn to overcome challenges. This support and guidance were crucial in helping me implement the changes I needed."

A better mindset

Life for Anthony has improved since completing the course, leading to better relationships and overall well-being.

He told us he's gained confidence, has more motivation and can approach challenges with a clearer and calmer mindset.

"This change has also enhanced my productivity and effectiveness in my professional life, leading to greater satisfaction and success. I no longer feel overwhelmed by obstacles but see them as opportunities for growth and learning," he added.

He's urging others to recognise the need for help, saying that it's okay to ask for it and that change is possible.

"Don't be afraid to invest in yourself," he said, "Surround yourself with supportive people who understand your journey and can provide encouragement and guidance.

"Remember that change doesn't happen overnight, but with consistent effort and the right tools, you can overcome challenges and create a better, more fulfilling life. Stay patient, stay positive, and believe in your ability to change," he said.
