Repairs to the roof of Wilton Library will begin on Thursday 8th June, having been closed since early April.

The decision to close was made by Wiltshire Council to keep library users safe after roof damage was discovered.

After further investigations, a detailed work plan has been drafted for the repairs to be made.

The repairs are expected to completed in mid-August, weather conditions permitting.

A re-opening date has not be disclosed as yet.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Libraries said:

“Now that we have a detailed workplan, the repair work can get under way, and we look forward to reopening the facility in the summer."

He added: “We are also taking the opportunity to carry out other repair work to the roof during this period, which will hopefully prevent the need for further works and building closures in the future.”

All books currently on loan from Wilton Library will have their return date extended until reopening, although they can also be returned to one of the other Wiltshire Libraries.
