Essential repairs to keep Wilton Library closed
The building has already been closed since April 6th
Essential repairs to Wilton Library have forced Wiltshire Council to temporarily close the library.
Ceiling damage has meant the building has been shut since 6th April but these extra repairs mean the closure will last longer.
Assessments to create a timeline for reopening are going to be carried out on-site and allow the required fixes to be made.
All books currently out on loan from Wilton Library will have their return date extended until the library opens, but people are also able to return books at any Wiltshire library should they wish to.
In the meantime, the nearest library to Wilton is Salisbury and Wiltshire Council library cards are valid there and at any of its libraries throughout the county.
Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Libraries, said: “We are very sorry that Wilton community’s library is currently closed.
“This decision was necessary to ensure people’s safety while we plan and carry out these repairs. We are focussed reopening the library as soon as possible and shall have a clear timetable to achieve this very soon.
“In the meantime, we have a range of digital services that people can use, and of course anyone from Wilton will be very warmly welcomed at any of our other libraries should they wish to pay them a visit. Thank you to everyone for their patience.”
