Wilton set for ‘jam-packed’ community carnival

There'll be live music, a procession and over 40 food and drink stalls

A jam-packed line up is ready for the Wilton Carnival today (Saturday 8th July), for one of the biggest events in the town's calendar.

The carnival parade itself is taking place from Castle Meadows 1.00pm.

Other activities on site will include a dog show, a Grand Prize draw and live music.

Loose Connections and Disco Dion among the acts taking the stage.

An 'It's A Knockout' contest is also planned, with a number of local businesses and organisations entering teams.

Over 40 food and drink stalls will be set up too, as well as children’s activities including bouncy castles, fairground rides and face painting.

The prize draw will be made at 6.15pm, with prizes such as a two night stay in Broad Chalke B&B, three beer hampers and a Vax floor steamer.

Entertainment will continue through until 10.00pm.

There's also a charity aspect to the event, with proceeds from the day going to two local groups.

The Carnival's supporting Seeds4Success, which runs youth clubs in Wilton, Tisbury and Mere; and the Wilton and District Thursday Club - social sessions for isolated older people in the town.
