A West Wellow man's been sentenced after admitting flytipping waste, including industrial kitchen appliances in the Test Valley.
Mark Hilden, from Scallows Lane, has been given an eight week suspended prison sentence and ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work.
He's also been disqualified from driving for three months, ordered to pay £133 in compensation and £1.041 of court costs.
Hilden was prosecuted by Test Valley Borough Council after the authority had a flytipping incident reported to them in October 2021.
The waste, on Roman Road in Broughton, was blocking access to a Southern Water site, and also the footpath leading to the Clarendon Way.
Industrial-sized fridges, an oven, an ironing board, and a large number of blue plastic vegetable crates had been dumped.
The appliances had PAT testing labels on them, which meant they could be traced back to The Concorde Club in Eastleigh.
They confirmed that they'd paid £300 cash for the waste to be removed and it had also been captured on CCTV.
A DVLA enquiry confirmed that the vehicle in the CCTV footage was registered to the defendant.
Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, Councillor Nick Adams-King, said:
“I would like to say a massive thank you to all those involved in bringing Mr Hilden to justice.
“Thanks to the breadcrumb trail that started with the PAT testing labels, through to the CCTV that placed the defendant at the scene in his vehicle, we were able to track down the person responsible.
“Fly-tipping is a terrible crime with terrible consequences, and I hope this sends a message to those criminals who think they can get away with it, that they absolutely won’t.”
