The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across South Wiltshire and West Hampshire tonight (Wednesday 18th May).

Sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The weather warning comes into force at 7.00pm this evening, and will be in effect until 3.00am tomorrow morning.

Here's what the Met Office say to expect:

• Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

• Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services, as well as possible power cuts

• There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, with damage due to floodwater or lightning strikes

We're also warned about the possibility of so-called 'blood rain' - where storms mix with dust clouds.
