Chance to remember lost babies with Wave of Light at Salisbury Cathedral
Families can come together this evening (Tuesday 15th October)
South Wiltshire families who faced the tragic loss of a baby are getting a chance to remember them this evening (Tuesday 15th October).
The Stars Appeal is hosting an event at Salisbury Cathedral for people to take part in a 'Wave of Light'.
It marks the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week, with those getting involved lighting a lantern to honour babies lost.
The event's planned from 6.30pm, next to the Angels in Harmony sculpture on the Cathedral green.
If it's raining, it'll be moved to the Cloisters.
Lanterns and battery candles will be available, with tags to write your own personal messages - before families are able to take their lantern home afterwards.
Poems will be read during the event, and there will be a minute’s silence.
The Wave of Light has been organised by staff from the Benson Suite at Salisbury District Hospital.
The service, within the Maternity Department, was funded by the Stars Appeal to offer families a private and dedicated space if they experience the sad loss of a baby.
It helps to ensure the time these families are able to spend with their baby is as precious, dignified and personal as possible.
The Maternity Department at the Hospital has also been lit pink and blue over the last week, to mark the national Baby Loss Awareness Week.
