Lost babies to be remembered with Salisbury Cathedral Wave of Light

It's being organised by the Benson Suite at the District Hospital

Families in Salisbury who have lost a baby are coming together this evening (Sunday 15th October) to remember their babies at a special commemorative event.

The Wave of Light is held at the end of the national Baby Loss Awareness Week each October, with people lighting a candle in a child's honour.

It's been organised by staff of the Benson Suite at Salisbury District Hospital.

The suite, which marked it's 10th anniversary this year, is a dedicated, private space for families who experience the death of a baby.

They're inviting those who want to remember a baby to a gathering in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral from 6.15pm on Sunday 15th October.

It'll be held by the Angels of Harmony statue, near the West Front entrance.

Lanterns and battery candles will be given out for families to write their own message of memorial.

They'll then be placed on the ground, with poems read and a minute's silence, before people can take their lanterns home with them.

Donations will also be accepted for the Stars Appeal Benson Suite Fund.
