Water supplies in the Redlynch, Woodfalls and Morgan's Vale area have been disrupted this afternoon (Friday 28th January) by a burst main pipe.

The problem was initially reported at around 11.00am, with some residents seeing their water running yellow or brown.

Other households have suffered outages.

Supplier Bournemouth Water say the problem's been caused by a burst water main, and their engineers are working to repair it.

They're also 'proactively flushing the water mains to clear discolouration'.

The strange colour of the water is due to natural sediments that build up in the pipes being disturbed, like iron and manganese.

We're told that while it's not harmful, it's not recommended that customers drink the water at this time.

BOTTLED WATER COLLECTION

Customers affected by the issue can pick up some bottled water from the company.

They've got supplies at the Morgans Vale and Woodfalls Village Hall, on St Birinus Road in Redlynch, SP5 2JB.

More deliveries of water will be arriving there until the problem is fixed.
