An e-scooter rider in Calne has been given a formal warning by Wiltshire Police, for using the vehicle illegally.

They were seen to have been riding through the Recreation Ground and The Pippin last week.

It comes as officers say they're clamping down on e-scooters, following concerns raised by members of the public.

A number of warnings were issued last year, with the issue continuing into 2025.

In a post on social media, Calne PCSO Mark Cook reminding people that the vehicles shouldn't be used in public places:

“We have been targeting this issue, after concerns were raised by members of the community. We will continue to give advice on e-scooters and the restrictions on using them if purchased. Anyone seen riding an e-scooter will be issued a warning and if underage, parents will be advised.

"We will remain focused on problem-solving interventions and will continue to engage with riders to making them aware of the law. Offenders who knowingly and persistently break the law will be dealt with appropriately, whereby the e-scooter will be seized, and the rider will be reported for any offences.”
