Warning over 'inconsiderate parking' in Amesbury
Wiltshire Police say they'll be carrying out extra patrols this summer
There's a warning to drivers in Amesbury that police will be tackling 'inconsiderate or dangerous parking' this summer.
Officers say they'll be carrying out extra patrols, especially around the Archers Gate and Kings Gate areas.
It follows complaints from residents and councillors that poor parking is blocking pavements and access routes.
The advice from police is that vehicles should only be left in areas where a double buggy or wheelchair could pass through easily.
It's not a specific offence to park on pavements or close to junctions, but you could be given a ticket for causing an obstruction.
The issue of inconsiderate parking has also been raised by Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue in recent years, with concerns that emergency vehicles would struggle to get to some properties if needed.
Problems have been highlighted in some other South Wiltshire areas, particularly new builds, like Old Sarum, Longhedge, Riverdown Park and St Peter's Place.
