Wiltshire Police are urging people in the West Dean area to be vigilant following an attempted theft of a vehicle and criminal damage to another on the same night.

A window of a Toyota Landcruiser was smashed and electrics pulled out of the ignition in an attempt to start the vehicle.

It is believed the offenders left the scene in a dark coloured people carrier after being disturbed by the owner.

The incident happened around 11pm on May 1st.

The force said a separate incident approximately 30 minutes later saw damage was caused to a Citroen C5 – again the offenders were disturbed by the owner.

A spokesperson for the force said:

"We’d like to urge residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity by calling 101 and quoting crime reference number 54220044664."
