On Tuesday (29th June), the first walk in session at the mass vaccine centre in Salisbury has been labelled a "success".

The clinic was aimed at those over the age of 40 and hoped to encourage more patients to come forward for the jab.

They had 150 slots available and 83 were taken up on the day.

Fiona Hyett, the director of the vaccination centre, said:

"It was great to run the first vaccination walk-in clinic, this marks a significant milestone in the roll out of the vaccination programme.

"It was a successful first session and we were able to give the life-saving jab to 83 people who had been unable to previously book an appointment.

"We will be holding further clinics and continue to ask everyone to come forward for their first and second jabs, either via booking an appointment through the National Booking Service or attending an appropriate walk-in clinic."

Another session is taking place from 8:30am until 7:30pm on Sunday (4th July) for the over 40s, who have not booked their Astra Zeneca vaccine.
