There's just a couple of days left to sign up for this year's Walk for Wards in support of the Stars Appeal at Salisbury District Hospital.

The event in the grounds of Wilton House sees supporters take on the 3k, 5k or 10k routes on Sunday 7th July.

It's a flagship event for the Stars Appeal with the aim of raising at least £100,000.

Around 1,800 people have already signed up, with the final deadline on Sunday (30th June).

Dr Tracey Parker, Consultant in blood cancers on the Pembroke Unit at Salisbury Hospital, and Stars Appeal Ambassador, said:

“Every day I see first-hand the difference that the Stars Appeal makes to our patients and their families across the hospital.

“Woven into the fabric of our hospital, which strives for the best possible experience for everyone, are hundreds of Stars Appeal funded projects. Like the complimentary Wi-Fi, the children’s play assistant and the cancer wellbeing programmes. On a grander scale, state-of-the-art equipment and buildings, like the MRI scanner and the Breast Unit, benefit thousands of patients every year. Not least those under my care, who face cancer.

“Your support means that we can achieve these great projects. With the funds raised at Walk for Wards, the Stars Appeal can keep striving for great things to help local people at Salisbury Hospital.”

Walkers taking part need to commit to raising at least £20 sponsorship, for any ward or department at the Hospital that's special to them.

Entry includes a free lunch and admission to the Wilton House grounds after the walk.

Walk for Wards is sponsored by Salisbury Reds and held by kind permission of the Earl of Pembroke, the President of the Stars Appeal, with support from Wilton Rotary Club.
