Salisbury District Hospital partially lifts visitor restrictions

With coronavirus cases easing and in line with national guidance, Salisbury District Hospital has partially lifted its visitor restrictions which have been in place since December 29th.
From today (13th April) patients will be able to have a daily visitor for one hour.
Visitors must follow social distancing, wear face masks unless exempt, and book to visit at least a day in advance by calling the ward clerk between 10am and 4pm.
In addition to safety measures, visitors will be asked to provide their details for NHS Test and Trace at the point of booking.
Judy Dyos, Director of Nursing said:
"With infection rates lower, I'm pleased we are now in a position to be able to ease some of the visitor restrictions we have in place. I understand how difficult it has been for people not to be able to see their loved ones and I would like to thank everyone for their support and patience. Please continue to follow the rules in place to protect our patients and staff".
There are some exceptions to the one visitor only rule, for example the Children's Ward and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, vulnerable adults and patients nearing the end of life.

Last week for the first time since the pandemic began Salisbury District Hospital had no Covid-19 patients.
Sadly that lasted just 24 hours but numbers continue to be very low, as of 8.15am today there were just two.
The last patient to pass away with corovnavirus at our hospital was reported on March 29th.
In total there have been 211 deaths.
