A vehicle was stopped by police for incompetent driving was on its way to Salisbury to take a driving test.

Whilst on patrol in an unmarked Police car in Amesbury, officers were drawn to a black Kia Cee’d being driven in a manner "far below that expected of a competent and careful driver".

The car had 'L' plates on, but it appeared there was only one person in the vehicle.

Police eventually stopped it on the A345 Workhouse Hill layby.

The driver was a Provisional licence holder only, driving without appropriate insurance and en route to take his driving test in Salisbury City Centre.

He was then reported for Driving Otherwise than in Accordance with a Licence and No Insurance.

Police officers then also seized the vehicle under Section 165 Road Traffic Act.
