Vehicle seized in Amesbury after going nearly twice speed limit
Police are conducting more patrols during a Christmas Drink Drive campaign
A man has had his vehicle seized by police officers in Amesbury after being caught driving at 70mph in a 40mph zone.
The officers also found the driver was behind the wheel of his Audi without a license, as it had been revoked.
PC Hopper and PC Willdigg were conducting mobile patrols on Saturday night (16th December) as part of the Christmas Drink Drive Campaign when their attention was brought to the driver of the vehicle.
As well as travelling at almost twice the speed limit, the officers observed the driving was "well below" the expectations of a safe and competent driver.
The driver was reported by the pair of officers for driving otherwise in accordance of his license, otherwise in accordance of his insurance and driving carelessly.
The man will attend court at a later date.
PC Hopper said: “It is very important for drivers to driver safely and within the law to prevent fatal collisions. If you see a driver driving unsafely either call 999 or 101 and a report will be made and officers will be dispatched”
