Following last years survey regarding how officers at Wiltshire Police respond to violence against women and girls, the Force has announced a series of improvements in their outcomes.

The improvements include an increase in Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPO’s) in the first three months of 2023.

VAWG lead for Wiltshire Police, Detective Superintendent Sarah Robbins said: “Our communities have rightly demanded to see changes in the way we understand and tackle this issue and, as a force, we pledged to make fundamental and enduring change.”

Since implementing bespoke training for officers, the Force has seen a dramatic improvement in the outcomes for rape and serious sexual offences, as well as domestic abuse cases.

27 DVPO’s were granted between January and March of this year, while there was also a completion rate of 96% and 99% on risk assessments of domestic abuse, stalking and honour based violence.

However, DS Robbins says they can’t stop now: “We have made dramatic improvements to the service that women receive from us, but we know that we can, and must, do more.

“We are listening so please keep speaking out.”
