The CCG are holding a dedicated session about the Covid-19 vaccine for BAME communities across Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset and Swindon.

Opening Doors: a conversation about Covid-19 is a chance for those with concerns to ask a live panel of medical experts any questions they have about the vaccine.

A Salisbury Councillor is clarifying the vaccine is safe for the BAME community to take after his Muslim parents were inoculated last week.

Atiqul Hoque's said it was safe and very quickly done.

"My parents, my father is 86 and my mother 66, they've taken the vaccine on Thursday, it was really wonderful and they feel great.

"In terms of the Muslim guidance, it is clear this doesn't have any animal contents or contain any alcohol, so it is completely permissible.

"All the scholars have highlighted that it is safe to take, so there is no reason for one to deny the vaccination.

"It is also important for our community to acknowledge that this vaccination not only protects them but it protects others.

"Sometimes, even if we don't have to do it ourselves but for the sake of others, we really should take this vaccination and I encourage everyone.

"There is no reason for anyone to worry or not take the vaccination so please take the vaccination it is absolutely safe to do so and you will feel better."

Opening Doors: a conversation about Covid-19 will be held on Thursday 4th from 18:00-19:30.
