Urgent roadworks to repair gas leak on Salisbury's Bridge Street
It's affecting traffic trying to leave the city centre towards Fisherton Street
Bridge Street in Salisbury has been closed for traffic, to allow for urgent gas repairs.
Gas network SGN say they've discovered a leak, and need to fix it as soon as possible.
The road closure is affecting traffic trying to leave the city centre towards Fisherton Street.
The pavements remain open for pedestrians though.
There's no word at this stage as to how long the closure might be in place for - but it's likely to be in place for a few days yet.
Dan Brown, spokesperson for SGN, said:
"We’re carrying out urgent repairs to our gas network following a leak in Bridge Street.
"For everyone’s safety, we’ve needed to close Bridge Street to motorists while our engineers fix the affected pipe. A signed diversion is in place for affected motorists.
"We appreciate this is a busy route and we’re working as quickly and safely as possible to make the required repairs to keep everyone safe and warm.
"However, it’s likely Bridge Street will remain closed over the weekend."
