An unlicensed 'house of multiple occupation' has been discovered by police in Amesbury.

They visited a property in London Road yesterday (Wednesday 31st January), to carry out welfare checks.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire safety officers and Wiltshire Council staff attended alongside police, to speak to the occupants.

It's illegal to have a house with multiple occupancy without a licence.

Enforcement action is now being taken against the landlord by Wiltshire Council.

They'll have to carry out repair works, make fire safety improvements, and gain gas and electric certificates.

Prosecution proceedings can also be considered, with the possible penalty of an unlimited fine.
