Ukrainian's living in Salisbury are calling for global unity on the third anniversary of Russia invading their country.

To mark the anniversary, around 50 Ukrainian's gathered in Salisbury's Market Place to unfurl a large flag, sing the national anthem and show support for their country.

Oksana Prokopiv from Ukrainian Community United also gave a speech, in which she declared we are stronger together.

"It is a day of pain and sorrow, but also a day of unity, strength and unwavering belief in victory," she said, adding: "Over these three years, our nation has shown that it cannot be broken. Ukrainians defend their land with incredible courage, inspiring the world."

Around 50 people gathered outside Salisbury Guildhall to mark the third anniversary

Oksana, who has lived in South Wiltshire for almost three years, thanked the local community for welcoming her and other Ukrainian's to the city.

And with US President Donald Trump suggesting there could be peace talks, Oksana insists those must take place with Ukraine present.

She said: "I think it's the opinion of all Ukrainians, there can be no negotiation without Ukraine, we have to be around the table of negotiation to make the best decision for Ukraine."

Oksana's brother is in the Army, fighting on the front line.

She told us she waits every day for a message from him that he is ok.

Despite the distance between her own and many other Ukrainian families, Oksana said their heart's beat as one for the country they're battling to retain.

She's demanding Ukraine's allies continue to stand alongside them.

Oksana said: "Please keep helping, keep supporting and keep believing. We ask for stronger and faster action, we ask the world to fully wake up and give real help quickly.
