The work will mean Down Barn Road itself, which connects the A338 with the A345 at Low Flying Corner, will be closed from this morning (Monday 4th January).

It's expected the work will take place until Sunday 17th January.

Emergency access to Down Barn Road will be maintained at all times.

The work will include upgrades to the roundabout at the end of Down Barn Road, the A338 and The Portway

WHAT'S BEING DONE?

Wiltshire Council say the work is for the 'installation of street furniture and associated work' as well as a new 'traffic island' at the roundabout for The Portway junction.

Multi-way temporary traffic lights will be in place for the duration of the roadworks, which could cause delays from Old Sarum, into Winterbourne Gunner village, and on the A338 from the Porton direction.

A diversion route is also in place to allow for the closure of Down Barn Road:

The diversion route takes drivers along The Portway, right along Gaters Lane, to join the A345 at High Post.
