Two incidents of sheep worrying at a farm in Bowerchalke are being linked by police.
They were reported in the same field at Middle Chase Farm on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th November, with rural crime officers now releasing details.
In the first case, the farm manager found the sheep there bunched up in the corners of the field in a state of high alert.
A ewe that had an existing udder injury is thought to have been chased, as she had been bleeding heavily.
The following day, a farm worker found a lamb dead, after having been mauled by what's likely to have been a dog.
Wiltshire Police is now investigating, saying such cases have 'devastating consequences for livestock keepers; causing personal distress as well as significant financial costs'.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses who saw suspicious activity, or even noticed a dog with blood on its face, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 54230118428.
We're also reminded that if we see an incident of livestock worrying taking place, we should 999 straight away.
